What is Duplicate & Rename?
Duplicate & Rename script for After Effects simplifies the process of duplicating and renaming layers. Users can customize search and replacement terms, adjust layer position, flip layers, and choose from various label colors.
Step-by-step guide for use the script
1. Open After Effects and run the script to display the UI panel. 2. Select the layers in the composition that you want to duplicate and rename. 3. Use the "Search" field to type the name pattern you want to find in the selected layers. 4. Type the "Replacement Term" to define how the duplicated layers should be renamed. 5. Choose the desired color for the labels of the duplicated layers from the dropdown menu. 6. If needed, specify the exact position for the duplicated layers in the XYZ fields. 7. Optionally, enable flipping by checking the relevant checkboxes. 8. Configure any additional actions such as closing the panel upon completion or keeping the parent null. 9. Press the "Duplicate Layers" button to start the process. Once done, review the changes in the composition and make further adjustments if necessary. How to install this script?
Scripts with dockable/embeddable UI's are installed in the ScriptUI Panels folder and run from the Window menu in After Effects. macOS: /Applications/Adobe After Effects (version)/Scripts/ScriptUI Panels Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects (version)\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels NOTE: In After Effects, make sure “Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network” is on. Preferences > Scripting & Expressions > “Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network”
